Brazil VS Venezuela 1 – 0 (MEN)

The opening game of the Pan American Challenge Junior Hockey Tournament saw Brazil edge past Venezuela with a narrow 1-0 victory in a thrilling encounter that set the tone for what promises to be an exciting tournament.

From the first whistle, both teams displayed intense determination, with each side creating scoring opportunities but failing to convert in the early stages. Venezuela, led by a solid defense, managed to withstand Brazil's pressure, while the Brazilian side struggled to break down the Venezuelan goalkeeper, who was in inspired form.

The only goal of the match came in the 55th minute via a well-executed penalty corner by the skillful Brazilian captain Lucas Varela (11). This 1-0 victory for Brazil was hard-earned and showcased the high level of competition expected throughout the tournament. Both teams will now look forward to their next matches, with Brazil perhaps feeling fortunate to have started their campaign with a win in such a closely contested match.

Guyana VS Guatemala 4 – 0 (WOMEN)

Guyana’s junior women’s team secured a 4-0 victory over Guatemala in a dominant performance. The match saw Guyana showcase their attacking strength, with three goals coming from open play and one from a well-executed penalty corner.

Guyana's offensive fluidity and solid defense were key to the win, with the team controlling possession and creating numerous chances. Guatemala struggled to break down Guyana's defense, and despite their efforts, could not find a way past Guyana's solid backline.

This 4-0 win was a fantastic result for Guyana and showed their tournament intentions. The Guatemala ladies remain in good spirits as they seek a better showing in their next game.

Guyana VS Guatemala 2 – 0 (MEN)

In a fast-paced and fiercely contested match, Guyana triumphed over Guatemala with a 2-0 victory. The game was marked by Guyana’s dominance, especially in the penalty corner department, securing 10 penalty corners to Guatemala's 1. Jabari Lovell (4) would be the only name on the scorecard as he capitalized on two penalty corner opportunities in the 29th and 33rd minutes.

Although the penalty corner executions by the Guyanese proved to be the difference maker, Guatemala should be proud of their first showing in the tournament.  Both teams will no doubt look forward to their next games as they seek to secure wins.
